  • How BRITTLE is the glass on the iPhone 8? Scratch, Drop and Water Torture Tests

Thought this video was going to end MUCH sooner than it did. I wasn’t terribly impressed that Apple decided to go with the glass-back route. I liked the Aluminum body of the iPhone 6 and 7′s because of the increased durability. But I was surprised at how much punishment the new iPhone 8 could take.Get the Apple iPhone 8 on Amazon! Amazon US: Amazon CA: Amazon UK: Amazon DE: Or get it on eBay: first thing I wanted to know was this. Would the glass crack if I dropped it on the corner of the iPhone. Technically it shouldn’t because the edge of the iPhone is still aluminum but I’m curious to know if the extra strong copper strengthened super structure was going to stop the impact from the corner travel to the glass. So I cleaned off a section of my garage, took the plastic wrapper off my new iPhone 8 that I had picked up 30 mins prior and dropped it, port first. Part of me was expecting the glass to break but to my surprise….it didn’t.I subsequently turned it around and dropped it camera side first and something interesting happened. It looks like the plate that the glass is glued to came apart but the glass didn’t break. Not a bad alternative to having the back of the glass actually crack. For the scratch tests, I tested with:- Monty’s paws which didn’t nothing. - Coins didn’t do anything to the glass back of the iPhone 8 - Keys which, like Monty’s paws and coins, didn’t do anything - Kitchen knife had no noticeable effect on the back. Chopping an onion on the back didn’t bother it either - surprisingly a rock I found in the alley scuffed up the glass iPhone 8. I though this wasn’t going to happen but it looks like I took off the coating and didn’t damage the glass. The last test I did was with the file from my leatherman and this file leaves a mark on every screen protector I have tested so I was expecting it to scratch the iPhone 8. It did.So after all that, I was curious to know what would happen in a back first drop on rocks. I took it to the side of the house where a bunch of river rock lines the ground. At this moment, I felt like I was doing something bad, I felt a little guilty because I was in this secluded area, ready to hurt my iPhone 8 even more.So the first back drop from about chest height….resulted in nothing happening. I was actually surprised as the rock that scratched the back came from the same general pile of rocks but nothing happened. So I decided to take the iPhone 8 to over 6 ft and dropped it back first again. Annndddd nothing happened. I was definitely surprised that nothing happened to the iPhone 8. At this point in time I thought this iPhone 8 was INVINCIBLE.But the truth always comes on when I drop it on the sidewalk in front of my house. The sidewalk looks smooth but definitely isn’t because. Every screen or glass screen protector that makes contact with the sidewalk, breaks. So I set everything up and dropped it from 3.5 ft and the back of the iPhone died. It cracked which made me sad but then I noticed that part of the back was actually sticking out. I have no idea why that happened. Now before I get to the iPhone 8 water test, I will note that the toughness of the screen was about the same. Again, I’ve broken enough iPhone screens over the years on my sidewalk to know that a chest height drop is going to ruin your iPhone. For the water test, I really wanted to get the iPhone all broken up before submerging it so I dropped it a few more times with the last drop resulting in a giant crevice on the back of my iPhone. That’s probably the coolest type of damage I’ve seen on an iPhone in the last 4 years. So with the water test, I took the extremely beat up iPhone and dunked it into the sink and I let it sit for a while. When I checked on it 5 mins in, the screen was off and I thought that was it. The iPhone is dead.Nope. I forgot to turn off the auto-lock.The iPhone sat in my sink for 51 minutes before I pulled it out. By this time the screen was a little off but everything seemed to work. Again, this wasn’t surprising to me—————————————————————————————– Subscribe to stay in the loop! We release 2-3 videos a week so there’s going to be something new every week. • Spigen Apple Watch Case Reviews – Thin Fit, Slim/Tough Armor & Liquid Crystal

Does your Apple Watch really need a case? We don’t think so but if you must, check out the Spigen Thin Fit.Full Review: are accessories for your Apple Watch and for the most part, they’re quite underwhelming. The Slim Armor and Liquid Crystal are basically TPU sleeves for the Apple Watch, the Tough Armor is a TPU sleeve with a Polycarbonate face and the Thin Fit is a piece of plastic that snaps to the front of your Apple Watch. The Thin Fit is really the only Spigen Apple watch product that I would use on a regular basis. The Tough Armor is nice if you’re trying to look a little different but I would stay away from the Slim Armor and Liquid Crystal. Every one of these products has a fatal flaw to them which I’ll elaborate in a bit. So…lets get started with the one that ugliest one.The Slim Armor gets a score of 2.5 Eh’s out of 5. It is a TPU sleeve that wraps around your Apple Watch. It doesn’t fit terribly well as its not very rigid and makes your $500 dollar Apple watch look like a 3 dollar watch you fish out of a game you pay 5 dollars to play.Spigen says that it has a metallic look to it and if you squint at it from a far distance, it might look metallic but then you look up close, you’ll notice it looks like refuse from their TPU machine. The only upside to this product is that it comes with two screen protectors but they don’t quite fit the Apple watch’s screen. Generally, the Slim Armor does a better job of protecting your device than the Thin Fit and Liquid Crystal. The screen protector generally maintains the clarity of the Apple Watch’s screen which is something I can’t say about the Tough Armor.Onto the Liquid Crystal which which received a wonderful score of 1.8 Eh’s out of 5. It’s much thinner than the Slim Armor but is equally as useless. Its quite flexible and on the Apple Watch, it looks like you tried to protect your Apple Watch with plastic wrap. The flexibility does it no good since dust and debris collected between the watch and the case. The only benefit of the Liquid Crystal in terms of protection is that the edge of the case extends slightly past the Apple watch’s touchscreen so it will protect the Apple watch from the occasional face bump. The most useful of these products is the Thin Fit which scores at 3.75 eh out of 5.. Its the only product between these 4 that just snaps on the front of the case which means that clean your Apple Watch is simple but there is a chance that you will lose this case so it just pops right off. Simple things such as putting your hand in a pocket will increase the chance of you losing this accessory. It maintains the design of the Apple watch, especially compared to the cheap look of the Slim Armor and the plastic wrap look of the liquid crystal. In terms of protection, it will provide decent protection, if it stays on the Apple Watch from the occasional edge strike which is how I scratched my Apple watch’s screen. In my opinion, this is the most practical Apple watch accessories that Spigen has made but again, it comes off so very easily.Last but not least is the Spigen Tough Armor which is something you should consider if you want to make your Apple watch look a little different. It has a polycarbonate face that snaps onto the TPU sleeve. The two pieces generally stick together but it will come off if you’re not careful. This photo was taking at the gym while I was taking a walking rest break and noticed, in front of me, the face of my Tough Armor just laying their on the ground. If the case stays together, this Spigen Apple Watch accessory offers the most protection out of the 4 as it covers the entire iPhone. I do have to note that the screen protector reduces the quality of the screen in direct sun light. Now to elaborate on the comment about being a clean freak, my problem with the Slim Armor, Liquid Crystal and Tough Armor is that they are tough to clean. After an intense workout, sweat accumulates underneath the cases so to clean it, you have to take everything off. Or you could leave and let the sweat dry between the Apple Watch and cases. I wash my hands a lot so knowing that my sweat is festering between my watch and the case is really off-putting to me.—————————————————————————————– Subscribe to stay in the loop! • A $20 dollar Tough iPhone 6 Case? Is it any good? ZeroLemon Protector Review for the iPhone 6

If all you have is $20 bucks and you want something tough, then the ZeroLemon Protector is for you!Need all the details? does the ZeroLemon Protector stack up against other cases? Check out our comparison tool: we’re going to do the review for the ZeroLemon Protector. This is a tough case that’s 20 bucks and it personally like it better than the Otterbox Defender. With that being said getting to your iPhone’s hardware ports is mind-numbling frustrating and the screen protector is a little lacking. Now, I’m a fan of the company’s name, ZeroLemons and interestingly enough, the Protector isn’t a lemon. The only way I’d recommend this case is that if you only had 20 bucks to spend and you wanted something relatively tough to protect your iPhone. With that being said, I’d question your decision making paradigm in only deciding to spend only $20 to protect your $800+ dollar device but if $20’s all you got, I’d get the Protector.Based on our time with the case, the ZeroLemon protector gets a score of 3.6 Eh’s out of 5. It does better than the Otterbox Defender, is on the same level as the Case-Mate Tough Extreme but doesn’t do as well as the Ballistic Hardcore and Amzer Crusta. At Mobile Reviews Eh, we based our reviews on actual usage so that means finding out how comfortable we are in dropping our iPhones in the ZeroLemon Protector, which we are quite comfortable and seeing how useful the kickstand/belt holster is. After all that we, compare the case to other tough cases and then rate it accordingly. This case was given to us by ZeroLemon so stay tuned if you want this case for free.In terms of weight/bulk, despite what ZeroLemon says on their website, the Protector isn’t slimmer than other tough cases. In fact, it’s kinda the same size as most cases. Installation isn’t terribly difficult but taking the case apart is little annoying especially with the awful port covers. We do have to note that the inside of the case has laser etched ZL emblems. For the build quality, the Protector “squeaks” which means everything doesn’t fit super tightly together which I’m not a big fan of. My case didn’t show any significant wear and tear while I used it.In terms of protection, the case isn’t drop rated but feel pretty comfortable dropping it from texting height. The corners on the protector are a bit different than other cases and is called “Double Corner” Technology. The angles on the corners do seem to make sense. In terms of water and dust, this case isn’t really going to do much. There isn’t a seal on the case so dust is going to get between the case and iPhone over time but there isn’t much flex so you’re not going to need to worry about larger pieces of debris getting into the case. Now, I’ve got a beef with the screen protection of the Protector. It only fits the touchable area of the iPhone so you need to install it with laser-like precision. Any slight error will result in your iPhone’s touchable area not being covered. Having the screen protector stop at the touchable area also means that more of your iPhone screen is exposed. In terms of getting to your iPhone, it’s really tough to pull out the plastic port covers. Usually, when stuff is tough to pull out, I just suggest not to cut your fingernails but despite that absurd recommendations, your finger nails won’t help at all with these flaps. I ended up having to dig my headphone jack into the mic hole to use my iPhone. In terms of accessing your screen, you’re not going to have any issues doing so with the ZeroLemon Protector. Even with the tiny screen protector installed. We will mention that ZeroLemon has done a neat thing with the belt holster and turning it into a kickstand. I personally don’t like kickstands on my cases, so having the opportunity to view my iPhone comfortable through the belt holster is a nice touch.—————————————————————————————– Subscribe to stay in the loop! A turnkey solution for protection with premium AGC tempered glass screen protector from Japan. Package Includes: 1 x Aramid case for iPhone 7 Plus/8 Plus,1 x AGC Tempered glass Screen Protector. Why we create phone cases? And why we choose Aramid fiber as the primary material?A: Reason is simple: we cannot find any phone cases in the market that is satisfying. Most of the cases are made of plastic or silicon, and they are ugly, tacky and look cheap. And they can get dirty very soon. Some of them are even made of metal, but those are too heavy, and they block the signals. The leather cases are getting fading, black very fast, and the wood cases are always thick and not durable. As we want a case to be slim, light and strong, durable, then we finally found the Aramid fiber, which is the super hero among materials for its extraordinary weight-to-strength ratio. It is the perfect solution for our daily carry.Q: Why you should never use a carbon phone case? What are the differences between carbon fiber and aramid fiber, as they look alike?A: You can list many facts that carbon fiber is a super high-end material. But there’s ONE reason that you should NEVER use a carbon phone case: it BLOCK signals highly, including WIFI, GPS, Blue-tooth or cellular signals etc.Aramid, however, is superior to carbon fiber for phone cases. It has the same features as carbon fiber, extremely light and strong while ZERO signal interference. Generally, aramid differentiate itself with carbon from below aspects:Stiffness & Elasticity Carbon fiber is extremely strong in tension and compression. However, it is brittle. So the fibers aren’t as tough as Aramid fibers. Thus, a carbon phone case will be also brittle of course. On the contrary, an Aramid phone case is more tough and flexible.Electrical Conductivity Carbon fiber is very definitely conductive, Aramid fiber do not conduct electricity. In other words, a carbon phone case has interruption to your signals. While the Aramid phone cases have no interruptions at all.Color Aramid in its natural state is a light golden color. It can be colored and many wonderful hues are now available. Carbon fiber is always black and by itself it cannot be colored. Remember, Carbon phone cases are always black. However, the Aramid phone cases could have different colors. As thin and light as paper, As strong as steel, As comfort as baby-skin and Longer life than your phone!Your phones are thinner and beautiful than ever. But do you really notice it? Do you really care? We care about it. Instead of ruining the experiment of the slim profile with a bulky case, we believe it is wise to keep it clean, light and sexy to grip.02. Yes, the Touch. These days, people handle their phones for hours a day. That’s why we care about how that feels. With the adoption of vacuum forming and a special 3-layers coating, it brings a 3D Grip to the case, which allows gives the texture a pleasant, almost addictive feel. Best of all, it gives you non-slippery grip, which makes it hard to drop.#Apple #iPhoneX #iPhone8plus #iPhone8 #iPhone7plus #iPhone7 #Olixar #unboxing #PitakaFollow Tech Zilla Google +: YouTube: Twitter: of my other Reviews: iPhone X and iPhone 8 24hrs after the Hype:

  • Seidio Obex Review – iPhone 6

Not as good as the Obex for the iPhone 5 but still a worthy waterproof iPhone 6 case.Need more details? case should you get? terms of design, the Obex is a decently sized waterproof iPhone case. It’s thinner than the Otterbox Defender and Ballistic Hardcore but not as thin as the Lifeproof Fre. Surprisingly, it’s really not that much bigger than a Speck Candyshell.installing this case is fairly simple, it’s your standard “snap 2 pieces of the case together” but during one of our numerous installs and uninstalls, we lost the plastic piece that fits in the mute switch so now we can’t change the mute status with the case. Just as a side note, as I was trying to find marketing jumbo to make fun of, if you’re wondering what Obex means, it’s actually Latin for barrier. In terms of build quality, the case does fit together fairly well but from our drop tests, the Obex does get mangled. The last edge drop that we did left a pretty sizeable dent on the front of the case. Other than that, the case does feel quite nice as the rubber edges helps keep the iPhone in your hand and the two rubber strips on the back prevent it from sliding a bit.In terms of protection, I’m not too thrilled with this case. It is waterproof and shockproof up to 6 meters but from our drop test, we discovered that the case has a tendency to split. The iPhone didn’t come flying out of the case but if the case was to land on a dock and fall into a lake or ocean, your iPhone is going to be a goner. The screen protector on the case is fairly thick but there isn’t much of an edge between the front of the case and the edges. In terms of accessing your iPhone inside the case, we came across a few things that were a little annoying. First of all, the Obex really only allows you to use Apple only cables. The lightning port isn’t large enough for larger cables and that’s the same for the headphone jack cutout. On the flip side, Seidio does include a headphone jack extension that you can use that will also keep the case waterproof as you have to lock the extension into the case.Next up is the sound and talking thorough the case isn’t a problem but you might notice a slight muting of sound coming from the earpiece speaker. Now, the sound coming out of the case is generally muted which is no good but I do have to give props to Seidio for doing something slightly different. For most cases, the sound comes out of the bottom of the iPhone. With the Obex, sound is diverted to the back of the case and comes out this small grill. It looks like they tried to do an amp chamber of some sort but the sound isn’t louder at all.I didn’t have any issues accessing the Touch ID sensor or using the Camera/Flash. No noticeable signal attenuation either. In terms of accessing your iPhone’s screen, the only thing we will note is that there is a slight gap between the touchscreen and screen protector but you have to go out of your way to look for it. The edges, because of their low height, allow you to get to everything on your iPhone easily. In terms of screen viewability, the Obex is average though I will note the screen protector that Seidio uses has a grid of dots and one of the viewers mentioned that these dots left a mark on their Android phone but I’ve only read of 1 instance of that happening. Glare is kept to a minimum, rain bowing does occasionally occur which is annoying. Fingerprints aren’t any worse when compared to a naked iPhone screen which is also nice. And if its too grimy, just gave your phone a good rinse.—————————————————————————————– Subscribe to stay in the loop! We release 2-3 videos a week so there’s going to be something new every week.
