Pay attention to two key points and choose a good mobile power supply

Lose the messy mobile power in your home, they are still in the last era - Micro-USB, the maximum output of 5V2A, right?

Almost everyone has one or several such mobile power sources. It's not that these mobile power supplies can't be used, but they are too far behind the times. At a time when USB-C is almost unified, the continued adoption of Micro USB seems to have become an incorrect thing.

Of course, there is a line with more lines when going out. Although it is troublesome, it is not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that the charging efficiency of the 5V2A is really too low. What's more, many times, charging input power to iOS devices is less than 8W. So how do we choose a mobile power source that fits the new era? The author believes that the following criteria are required:

1. 1. Support multi-standard fast charge function including PD, QC, etc., even two-way fast charge.

2. With small current charging function.

The above two standards are the most basic standards for purchasing all mobile power supplies.

The importance of PD fast charging and "small current" power supply

The importance of supporting multi-standard fast charging is self-evident. The more standards supported, the wider the universality - the currently known fast charge standards include PD fast charge (for Apple, Nintendo Switch), QC fast charge (the standard for Dragon products, Huawei SuperCharge and VOOC) (OV product), Dash (one plus series) flash charge.

The author believes that the most basic PD fast charge and QC fast charge is an excellent mobile power supply that needs to support the most basic functions. These two standards can cover all mobile phone products.

At the same time, the PD fast charge corresponds to the fast charging standard of the USB-C interface. It has multiple current and voltage levels and can be dynamically adjusted. In other words, devices that basically support fast charging and are also using the USB-C interface basically support this standard.

From this point of view, even Huawei, OV phones and one plus mobile phones can quickly charge through the PD standard, but the charging power may be lower than the own standard.

In addition to mobile devices, PD Fast Charge also supports hybrid devices such as Switch and laptops such as MacBook, Xiaomi Notebook and more. We can even say that the future fast charging standard must belong to the PD standard.

In addition, for an excellent mobile power supply, two-way fast charging is also essential - after all, the current mobile power is 10,000mAh upwards, and the 20,000mAh mobile power supply is not uncommon. If you don't support two-way fast charging, you will endlessly fret when charging your mobile power. No matter what kind of charger you use, the maximum input power is less than 10W, and the charging time is at least 5 hours.

However, if the mobile power supply supports PD fast charging, especially high-power PD fast charging, then you can use the 45W millet notebook charger directly, or the 61W MacBook Pro charger, which is full of 20000mAh mobile power, and can't use 4 hours.

In addition to supporting a variety of charging standards, an excellent mobile power supply also has a "small current continuous output function." Speaking of this feature, some users may not be familiar with this feature.

For example, Xiaomi bracelet, wireless Bluetooth headset (AirPods, Beats X, etc.), Bluetooth mouse that supports USB charging, and so on. These Bluetooth devices are plugged into a normal mobile power source and can only be charged in the first few seconds. Then the mobile power supply automatically turns off because the output current is too small to be continuously output.

Although most Bluetooth devices have long enough battery life, it is inevitable that there will be no forgetting to charge. At the same time, some Bluetooth headsets can listen to songs for a long time, but they cannot talk for a long time (voice). If the mobile power supply supports a small current continuous output function, it can save a small Bluetooth device in just a few minutes. This in the wireless bluetooth headset began to spread today, no doubt reflects a mobile power product in the details of the consideration.

The efficiency of wireless charging mobile power supply is too low

There are some portable power supplies on the market that support wireless charging, but I personally do not recommend this type of portable power supply. Indeed, it is tempting to take a few data lines with less. However, the reality is that most input standards for wireless charging devices are less than 12W, and wireless charging is much less efficient than wired charging-the charging efficiency of the Qi wireless charging standard is only 70%.

It's simple enough to go out, but it takes longer for the phone to be fully charged, and you also have to make sure that the phone is not too far away from the mobile power during charging (you can only stick to the phone). Wireless rechargeable mobile power, flashy.

Magnetic interface is not convenient

On the market, another "creative" mobile power source uses a magnetic interface to plug the charging interface into the phone, and the other end is powered by a magnetic design connected to a charging cable or a mobile power source. This kind of mobile power supply is indeed creative and can provide some convenience. However, another reality that users need to face is that plug-in charging ports are not as easy to use as they are supposed to be.

On the one hand, some mobile phones have certain waterproof capabilities, but the bare magnetic interface does not necessarily have waterproof capability, which may be a potential cause of damage to the mobile phone; On the other hand, how to accommodate the magnetic interface and the convenience of connecting the data lines. I have used a charging device with a magnetic interface. The reality is that it is not as convenient as the display. Disassembling the magnetic interface is also a big problem.

To sum up, the process of purchasing a mobile power supply is: first understand that you may use mobile power scenarios and equipment, PD fast charge and continuous "small current" output can basically cover all mobile power purchase standards; Secondly, don't be tempted by the various flashy mobile power features - many features are not used by big brands of mobile power manufacturers, which means that these features are not as easy to use in everyday use, or use frequency and not tall.
